About

A selective magazine for people who build.

Forerunner publishes profiles and field notes on the people, systems, and ideas building the future. No listicles, no recycled announcements, no noise.

Why this exists

Most coverage of builders is either a breathless announcement or a ten-year retrospective. The interesting middle — the years of quiet decisions, the compounding, the trade-offs nobody sees — rarely gets written. Forerunner is built for that middle.

What you'll find here

Definitive builder profiles remain the foundation. Field reports, roundtables, and workshop notes connect those people to the technologies and ideas around them. We focus on consequential decisions, primary evidence, and lessons earned through practice.

Who writes it

Published by Tyler. Research-led field notes may be bylined Forerunner Research Desk, and guest contributors are invited on occasion. If you're building something interesting and want to be considered, the door is open — but the bar is high.

Editorial standard

Reported claims are checked against primary material whenever it is available, and each research-led story publishes its source list. AI may assist research, transcription, or drafting under human editorial responsibility; it is never a source, never an interview subject, and never permission to invent access, quotations, or facts. Analysis and inference are identified as such.
